It's our favorite grocery store! My kids have a ton of allergies and we love their selection. Staff is always friendly and the store is clean.
American style grocery store-with food court inside. Open 24 hrs. Last night (Sunday, 9 pm) i was coming from work and i stopped by to get a whole grilled chicken but there were none. Then i tried to find some smoked, ready to eat fish-none again. I had to get bread and salami for a sandwich. 18 dollars. No tap at the cash register so you always have to enter your PIN. Better selection but more expensive than the other 3 stores in town. I will avoid them from now on.
For regular shopping its way too expensive for me. If my family had any special dietary needs, it would be great but we dont. Does have some specialty items I will go back for - Peace River organic honey (mmmmmawesome) and best selection of chocolate Ive ever seen. Their homemade bread is good but check the date on it as we just about bought a 3-day old loaf. :( Salad bar looks good but havent tried it. We tried the Chinese buffet once at supper time. It was awful. It looked and tasted like it had been sitting there all day. Have to watch out for the salad and Chinese buffets. You pay by the gram and a bit of food can rack up quite a tidy sum making real restaurant fare seem like a better deal. However the plum sauce was the best plum sauce Ive ever tasted - actually tasted like plums not just flavoured sugar. Unfortunately I couldnt make a meal of just plum sauce. I will shop there for specialty items, gifts, and emergencies but not for regular shopping.
Super Helpful. My 10yr old son is a foodie. he went shopping with his grandma to pick up food for a meal he was making us. The woman in the meat department helped him pick it steaks, gave him BBQ cooking advice, showed him grill seasonings and helped him pick one. She asked which veggie he was making and how he would make it. Gave him advice on cooking zucchini on the grill. In the end grandma sat back and watched this wonderful woman guide him around the store. Before they left she offered him a job... if he were to come back in 5 years. He is SUPER stoked she wanted to hire him. He can't wait to go back and shop there. Her took a picture of his meal to send to her. It was a fantastic meal. We are sorry he never got her name. We are grateful for her energy and patience with our child chef.
If you haven't been to Freson market go check it out.It is a really fantastic store. A little pricey on some stuff but the quality is amazing. I just had some of their bread and it took me back to the old days when grandma use to make it.I can't say enough about it. I really hope people support them and get the others to pull up their socks. All their meat is from Alberta and most things are Canadian so for all of you that say shop Canadian here is your chance.Happy shopping!!!
